I love your stories, and it makes me think of my parents' cottage, which my mother sold years ago since neither I nor my two sisters wanted to take it on. She sold it lock, stock and barrel, but I managed to rescue my favourite mug. Perhaps I'll do a Substack article about it. You're inspiring, as always!
